For Jake, music has never been about chasing perfection. It has always been about trying to tell the truth — about the people we love, the places that stay with us, the things we lose, and the strange ways life can bring us back to ourselves.
But one night, that idea took on an entirely different meaning.
Jake was set on fire in a devastating accident and suffered burns over many parts of his body. He spent five days in a hospital burn ward before beginning a long recovery at home.
Life suddenly became very small.
There was nowhere to go and no way to rush what came next. Healing took time. Days that had once been filled with ordinary routines became days of recovery, reflection, and learning to live inside a body that had been through something extraordinary.
So Jake picked up his guitar.
At first, it was simply something he could do.
He sat at home, played, wrote, experimented with sounds, revisited memories, and followed songs wherever they wanted to go. Music became a place to put the fear, the gratitude, the questions, the loneliness, the memories, and the realization that life can change completely in a matter of seconds.
Little by little, songs began appearing.
